Michelle specialized in trauma, specifically in domestic violence during the 5 years that she worked as a mental health therapist at Discovery House. It was there that she understood what it means to stand beside someone, witness their pain and loss, and instill hope for healing. Often, the trauma starts way back in childhood. Sometimes it's overt and recognizable. At other times, it's covert such as through emotional neglect. Michelle has been through her own share of both which is why she can identify with people who are hurting. She has also worked as a bereavement counsellor with AHS and helped to co-facilitate grief groups, where she was able to witness the transformation in grieving people simply through the connection with others who had a similar lived experience.
