What is Strength Based Therapy?

The strength-based approach is centred around the idea that the client is the actor or agent of change. This means that clients are capable of making decisions, identifying problems, and finding solutions to those problems. Strength-based therapists believe that past experiences do not necessarily predict future outcomes; instead, they focus on what people can do today to improve their lives.
They encourage clients to set goals and work toward them rather than focusing on what happened in the past or blaming others for negative events in their lives. Strength-based therapists believe that all people have strengths that can be used as a resource during times of stress or difficulty.
